Scenario.
Suddenly you can't logon to your Windows 7 system using your usual user account.
Your system displays a screen that says: "The User Profile service failed the Logon. User Profile cannot be loaded."
Windows 10 will allow you to logon, however, with a bak profile which will leave out most of your settings, apps, and Desktop items.
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to fix these issues in some few steps.
Boot system into Safe Mode.
In the first place, you'll have to reboot your system into Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key when the system starts to boot. It will bring you to the Advance boot options of your system from where you can choose how you'll want your system to laod.
Select the line that says: "Safe Mode with command prompt"
"Regedit" System Registry.
At the command prompt type "regedit" without quotes and hit the Enter key on your keyboard which will open the system registry as seen below.
Now, watch and follow the steps below carefully.
In the registry hierarchy as seen in the image above you'll EXPAND the following:
Note carefully: "don't click on them, EXPAND them because you'll work only on the left pane and not on the right pane."
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- SOFTWARE
- Microsoft
- Windows NT
- CurrentVersion
- ProfileList
Find identical Lists where one has a .bak extension. Delete the one without extension and replace it by clearing the former's .bak extension.
Restart and Voila! It works.
Now check to see that your user account works again correctly.
