Our story

About GhanaChild

The global digital home for every Ghanaian, at home and abroad. Free, non-profit, and built by a proud GhanaChild.

A name that waited twenty years

GhanaChild.com may look like a name that came out of nowhere. In fact, the domain has existed for more than two decades.

It all started when I first learned to build websites with HTML and CSS. I decided to teach others online what I had learned, knowing that teaching would help me learn even more. And that is what I did: GhanaChild.com became a place for web tutorials.

At some point I stepped away from that path to do something else, but I kept the domain. Every time, I told myself the name had something in it that I could one day do something with, so I refused to give it away.

The question I kept asking myself was always: "What does GhanaChild.com have to do with web tutorials?"

Today I can answer it. This is the purpose the name was waiting for: a home on the internet for every Ghanaian, wherever life has taken us. A place to keep our families together, raise our children with our language and traditions, support each other's businesses and share our stories.

I'm proudly, a GhanaChild.
William Payne, founder
